I’ve been building some submini tube overdrives specifically for use with bass. The design is based around two 5840 submini pentodes, the circuit is tuned for deep lows. Each unit features gain, volume as well as clean blend, so you can keep a balance between the original input signal and the effected signal. A choice of tonestacks is available depending on your requirement – one knob BM type stack, two knob Vox type stack, or three knob Marshall or Fender type stack. The tonestack can also be bypassed by switch – this can be either a toggle or a footswitch. An additional nifty feature is the ‘Dirt’ switch, which add a little fizz to the sound.
This one was built for Kevin Moon, an awesome NYC bass player:
This one was built for Kreken, bassist in the Norwegian band Shining:
This deluxe version was built for Mark Koelsch of Wisconsin:
The ‘Demon Cleaner’, built for Tracy Roberts:
There’s a nice little thread going about these overdrives at Talkbass.com, which includes some youtube and soundclip content:

I’m just working on a couple more units too, each one is pretty unique, to accomodate the needs of it’s owner. Price is obviously dependent upon features – please contact me at:
